Mark Kanai joined the firm in 2021. He has been practicing for fifty-one years in the areas of estate planning, business, corporate and real estate law.   He is experienced in business formation, business transactions, succession planning and corporate maintenance, as well as trust and estate administration.  He has had the privilege of working with several generations of family businesses and has assisted them in their business, real estate and estate planning issues.

 Mark received his Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley in 1967.  He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1970.  He has served as past President of the Stanislaus County Estate Planning Council.  He has served on the Salvation Army Advisory Board for Modesto and is an Emeritus Member.  He has also served on the Modesto Junior College Foundation Board, the University of California, Merced Planned Giving Advisory Council and the Community Hospice of Modesto Advisory Board.  He has served as Chairman of the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Hearing Board for over thirty years.

 Mark’s interests include fly fishing and fly tying, bass fishing, foreign and domestic travel, California mining era postal history, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and family.
